Blog On Hold

Thanks to all of you who have followed this blog daily. To Mark's many friends and family members, this has been a place for you to track Mark's progress and reach out with your thoughts, well wishes, and most importantly your prayers. This is typically the time of evening I would post the news of the day. Sadly however, I am now unable to provide you with updates on his status. Because I know how important this link has been to all of you, I feel obliged to explain to you that this is NOT by my choice. There are unfortunate decisions that have been made that no medical information is to be released to anyone, including Mark's family. Any information we are able to gain from our brief 30 minutes per day with Mark we will continue to pass on to you. I can tell you that as of this mornings visit, Mark was very responsive and trying to communicate. Vitals were all within normal ranges.
I pray that the realization is made soon that the actions playing out are only going to tear Mark down. I also pray that God will open eyes and allow Mark's needs to be placed first. Anyone who knows Mark knows what a large, loving family he has. We are all here for him, and it is incredibly important for his healing to be surrounded with the love of his family and positive thoughts.
PLEASE do not stop leaving encouraging comments for Mark, and continue to keep him in your prayers. (He needs them now more than ever) And when Mark is able to speak for himself, it will be important for him to know that we were all here in support of him.
As upsetting as this will be to many of you, I ask that you all PLEASE KEEP THIS BLOG POSITIVE. This blog was created to provide a source of information for those concerned about Mark and a place to leave encouraging words for him. That is how I want it to continue.
My direct email for anyone wishing to contact me off of the blog is andies75@yahoo.com.

  1. Amy, first of all thank you for all of your devotion to keep friends and family and even all these new found friends who are rooting and praying for Mark's recovery and total healing, up to date. I know I and many others have gained comfort and hope through this blogspot. As a nurse, I know first hand that catastrophic events can trigger alot of negative emotions. I am praying for God to soften hearts, as we strive towards looking out for the best interests of a wonderful, loving man(my lil bro), who is right now counting on others to help him through. It is well known in the medical field that being positive is a healing factor in and of itself. I am terribly saddened by the new events as they unfold and I am hoping that Mark will remain positive and continue to win this marathon. Without saying...our prayers will continue and I know Mark feels our love surround him still. May the peace of God surround Mark and this entire gorup, who love him. Keep the faith and everyone keep following this blogspot and hopefully the next news will be joyous.
    Love, Janet

  7. Although I appreciate the blog as far as getting information to the family, I believe that this new development may be best for ensuring Mark's privacy. I believe Mark is a fighter and that he has chosen to get through this. Mark is a great person: strong willed, caring, and bright. If anyone can do this it is him. Mark, I'm pulling for you! (And when you are better we are going out for some cool frothy beer). Also, Kim, if you read this just know Joseph and I still have your back. If you need anything please call.

  8. Mark, keep up the fight! You are strong and will walk out of that hospital! You ARE a survivor. I love you, my brother! Even if we can't be there with you physically, please know our hearts are with you right now and always. I will continue to pray for your recovery. Ask and you shall receive.

  12. Hey, Mark!
I heard you mouthed "Hi, Mom" and "I love you" to Mom yesterday and that you are very alert. It will be wonderful when they change out your trach with one you can talk..I bet you'll have a LOT to say! Hoping to drive up and visit with you soon. Even though I can't physically be with you right now, I hope you feel the love I'm sending your way. I love you, Bro!

  13. Mark and Kim,
We are thinking of you often. I know these days seem like they drag on for months, but keep up the amazing fight! You have thousands of people behind you wishing you well every day.

    Kim,
When you can no longer take Vanderbilt food, RolyPoly across the street is great; and, it gets you outside for a minute. It saved me when Will was there. Also, you probably already know, but they have fast food places in the Children's Hospital, which is a nice break too. Stay strong, our thoughts are with you.

  15. Thankful to be able to know how to pray specifically as you have posted updates on the blog- however, I know that God knows and will continue to pray that God heal Mark and meet his physical, emotional and spiritual needs both now and in the days ahead. I am also praying for God's peace and love to surround each of the family. I know those hurting need to see family united- praying to that end!
